I don't have mending because i see it as a waste of a slot here ... you don't really need it hb is mainly used to counter the degen... if u put mending in there you are bring ur energy regen down to +1 and it still doesnt counter all the degen thats why i dont use it

Has anyone tried this area with the (Mutu, the Oldest Child) quest active? I remember dealing with a lot of undead with this quest just haven’t tried it in hardmode and can’t remember if they drop anything.

Is that quest available to non-NF characters? I can't seem to get it from Healer Zenwa.

Yes. I use the following (I suspect there is some changes would make it better, I have had little time with it):
10 Protection Prayers
16 Scythe Mastery
3 Wind Prayers
9 Earth Prayers
9 Mysticism
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Shielding Hands[/skill][skill]Mirage Cloak[/skill][skill]Heart of Holy Flame[/skill][skill]Reaper's Sweep[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill]
It is hard to do two groups at once unless you suicide first so the very first group of three can be difficult to pull successfully. It takes a bit longer than a 55 monk, but it is doable. If, like me, that is your title hunting character it isn't bad to do because of the occasional chest and I still need some more skill points for the Skill Hunter title.
As for the skills, unless you suicide all the time you will need to stagger Shielding Hands and Mirage Cloak. While there is only a short time that Shielding Hands will not be up, you just take too much damage with 130 health. Heart of Holy Flame converts your damage to holy which doubles damage against undead (on the casters it isn't unusual to see well over a hundred damage per swing). Reaper's Sweep works well against the bosses, I also tried Heart of Fury for the IAS, although it made the normal mobs drop a little faster I found Reapers to be better over all. I also tried staggering Shielding Hands and Shield of Absorption but found I had trouble making sure the enchants all went up in the right order, I found times that I died simply because the recharge/activation times made it so that *something* had to not be up - but your mileage may vary.
I do not see why one can not create a Shield of Judgment build as they take double damage from it - but I haven't given it a go. Plus you can use the -50 health offhand making it easier to live.

“Move a long there is nothing to see here”
Update to earlier post “Mutu, the Oldest Child”
"Holy undead fest Batman" this is a fun one for a 55 Monk, but a little tricky at the start. Lots and lots and lots and lots of undead to slay And they do drop things made 6k+ a black dye in one full clear the area sweep and a couple starter runs trying to figure out things(all in Hardmode). Spent about 1hour and 30 minutes (Getting all the quests to access this one and running the quest a few times figuring things out) Unfortunately for most you have to have a Elona born character to run this one, and it is repeatable if you "Stay away from Muto". Word of advice "Stay away from Muto" And Have fun

Hehe beat me too it :P yeah i just done it as well quite profitable too I got about 5k once i sold stuff plus a lockpick, white dye and a -5/20% shield mod and it took me around 20 mins to complete. Just as Painbringer said Avoid Muto so once you get taken to the area just walk around him (Don't let your bubble touch him) then you will be fine... otherwise he follows you then gets smashed lol

I've used quite similar build as strcpy's dervish build and it's just a couple minutes faster than my monk. But i had my own variation
The skills that I've used on my variation.
Prot spirit
Mystic regen
Shielding hands
Shield of absorbation
Reapers sweep[E]
Mystic sweep
Heart of holy flame
bathazars spirit
the attributes are the same as normal the 130hp dervish uses.

Day 2 “Mutu, the Oldest Child” Did the quest again in hardmode. I did 2 runs about a ¼ to1/2 of the full distance you can go. Had an aggro problem otherwise would have finished it. And then finished ¾ of the run and had to sprint to the final boss (Running out of time for the night) 5k worth of junk (Bunch of blue inscribable dead bows and sephis axes. I have gotten gold once off this run so chances are good to get a good one sometime.) also a Elite Warrior Tome off the Tomb Guardian.

When you pass through the gate before you get to Muto hug the wall. Run at the wall the whole way around him once at the bridge slowly work your way around the bridge corner and you should be ok.
Been getting a bunch of gold’s
Spinal staff
Dead Scepter
Accursed Staff
Best so far Fiery Bladed Axe Req 10

Why not lure him into the traps inside the indoor area?

He will die and this is a mini mission like quest so it is game over. Plus the hordes of hard mode dead chop him down in a few seconds if he follows you. All other doors except the quest area are closed. I tried once to get him stuck on the environment but no luck.

I'm curious as to how long each one took. I bothered to time the run today (just while in the zone, not including id'ing/selling stuff). My Dervish finished it in roughly 28 minutes and the 55 monk in roughly 22 (I also kill the first three groups of skales - I have gotten some good drops from them and the Dervish kills them quickly).

I've been farming this, myself. The real jewel of this run are the mods you recieve. With the large amount of rares you'll get from it, there are plenty of chances to get some superb mods & inscriptions. The only rares I've been keeping are the Sephis axes. I've been merching the dead swords & bows (People wont buy these anymore.) after removing their decent mods. Got a Sword Pommel of Fortitude + 30. :O
